Gimmeafix (Punk Rock Disco)

Specialist in blending, eclectic, cross genre cocktails of classic tracks and obscure gems.

Using the D.I.Y. cut and paste punk ethic, tracks are ripped and torn and contextualised utilising archive from public information films, movie dialogue, news reports and commercials of the era, creating unique sound collages and delivering a fresh spin on a familiar canon.

Can be seen & heard spinning tunes regularly in The Speaksleazy at Torture Garden club nights in London.

  • Gimmeafix’s musical origins began on the south coast of England, near Brighton in the early 80’s, performing in the band Toy Factory. Gigs supporting goth scene favourites such as Gene Loves Jezebel, The Danse Society, Flesh For Lulu and The March Violets  followed.

  • After relocating to the big smoke in 1985, Gimmeafix started DJ-ing in the darkest corners of south-east London with a Friday night residency at The Harp Club (later renamed The Venue) in New Cross. During this time, he also designed sleeves for a number of albums by the infamous anarcho-punk band Conflict and compilations for their Mortarhate label.

  • For a decade from 1998, Gimmeafix was a regular DJ at Torture Garden, the world’s leading fetish club, providing sets of Punk, Trash, obscure Rock’n’Roll and sleazy Loungecore in their “Eclectic Ballroom”. He has appeared at their nights in London and Brighton, with venues including The Scala, Electrowerkz and The Brixton Academy. This led to invitations to guest DJ at The Erotica Ball in Olympia, a stint at the legendary Purple Turtle Club in Camden and for an exhibition launch by renowned music and fashion photographer, Perou.

  • Gimmeafix also fronted the band T-34 which appeared twice at The Download Festival in 2010 and 2011. Other appearances included supporting Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones at Abbey Road Studios as part of “Whispering” Bob Harris’s  Sight & Sound Cancer Research charity gigs. The band’s final performance was on the bill of Planet Rockstock in Great Yarmouth in 2013. He now performs as part of Dead Man's Jukebox.

  • In 2016, the acclaimed “Punk ‘76”  exhibition at The British Museum in London featured a number of rare Sex Pistols acetates, white labels and the classic A&M God Save The Queen 7” (originally owned by Jon Savage), lent by Gimmeafix from his personal punk vinyl collection.
